Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (RIT), Rajaramnagar was started in 1983. RIT has a green beautiful campus of 17 hectors and buildings on it measuring 53,029 Sq.m. RIT has emerged as a leading Technological Institute in Western Maharashtra through its dedicated & disciplined approached to provide quality technical education over a period around 35 years. RIT offers 07 UG programmes, 12 PG programmes and 04 Diploma (2nd Shift) programs. Most of them are accredited or re-accredited by NBA, AICTE New Delhi. In 2003, RIT has became the first private engineering institute in Shivaji University who got accredited all eligible UG programs. RIT is one of the few private engineering institutes in Maharashtra who received TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) funds in phase I & II. RIT is ranked 75th all over India as per survey conducted by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of Maharashtra in 2016. In the year 2008, RIT has been identified as a Regional Center of IUCEE program (Indo-Universal collaboration for Engineering Education). In 2011-12, UGC and Shivaji University, Kolhapur has granted RIT the status of autonomy. UGC has granted extension of Autonomous Status for the period w.e.f. 2017-2018 to 2021-2022. In the academic year 2014-15, RIT has become successful in attracting international admissions. In year 2016 institute is accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC. We have MoU with CTARA- centre for appropriate rural Technology alternatives, IIT, Powai and we are working together in Water sector Projects. Moodle Server is implemented for creating virtual learning environment & for e-resources content management. 26. Every semester we conduct an Academic Audit for all courses being taught in that semester. The objective is to enhance the quality of teaching- learning process and facilitate the learning of all students. A methodological approach is laid for conducting the audit. 27. Institute has carried out Strategic Planning for five years with SWOT analysis and prepared one page strategic plan as per Gazelles inc. (Verne Harnish) from 2009. As per this strategic plan annual goals have been decided and Key Result Areas (KRA) defined for all the faculty members along with Director. Library

The RIT Central Library with its state-of-the-art building, hardware, software and other allied resources is fast developing into one of the finest institutional libraries in Western Maharashtra. Its inviting architecture provides an ambiance that is relaxed but modern; and space that is large yet intimate. The resources available include books on an impressive array of subjects, course-specific reading material, academic journals and various digital resources. It houses sufficient reference and reading material for students and faculty from multiple disciplines. RIT central library has a good collection of 94725 + volumes, 30763+ titles as well as 5740 e-books, of all engineering disciplines and management department, includes more than 8313+ reference books, 416 Standards. It includes extracurricular and competitive examination books such as GATE, TOFEL, and MPSC etc. Its total investment of Rs. 5.46 crores. The Central Library invested 5.17 lakhs for subscribing more than 157 print national and international journals of engineering and management. It is also subscribed ASCE, Science Direct, IET, SAE, Delnet, Knimbus, and J-Gate &EBESCO. E-Journals databases. Its subscription cost is more than 24 lakhs. CentralLibrary added print 6006 volumes and 1187 titles worth Rs. 31,33,583/- to its collection for various departments in the financial year 2017-2018.

Laboratory

RIT – Central Workshop is full fledged workshop for hands on training to next generation engineers. All basic & advanced manufacturing facilities are available to enhance the skill of students. It is well equipped to train the students right from first year. Students are exposed to basic practical knowledge of fitting, carpentry, pattern making, smithy, tin- smithy, welding and various machines in machine shop with rigorous practical work. Sophisticated machine shop is equipped with 52 laths, all conventional machines such as universal milling, shaping machine, surface grinder, centre less grinder, turret lathe, automat etc. Welding shop is equipped with TIG, MIG, Submerged arc welding, Plasma arc welding. CNC turn A-16 Machine is installed to enable students to take training in CNC turning & milling as well as computer aided manufacturing (CAM). Various software’s like master CAM Level II, MTS simulation, software for turning & milling available here add to the competency level required by industry. Total investment in workshop is Rs.43,48,227/-

Cafeteria

Two tea/coffee vending machines are installed in campus and a Dabeli stall in addition to Cafeteria provides hygienic and healthy refreshments. Seven spacious dining halls in hostels ensure quality food. Here RIT offers meal and snacks at subsidized rates.

Sports

RIT has been keen in providing sufficient time and facilities for sports and gymnasium. The ‘Swasthya Sadhana Mandir’ is equipped with the nine station gym, vibrator, rowing machine. The facilities for indoor games like table-tenis, carom, chess are available here. Volleyball, basketball, badminton courts as well as cricket, kho-kho and kabaddi grounds makes the gymkhana not less than a sports complex. RIT shares the athletics track, football & hockey fields with its neighboring sport complex.

Transportation facilities

RIT provides transport facility to students in Eight exclusive buses. It connects Karad, Sangli, Palus and Kolhapur. RIT plies separate buses for girls from Karad and Sangli. Faculty and staff avail this facility. The transport facility makes travelling from these cities comfortable, time saving, and safe.

Classroom facilities

This Institute has taken due care to make class-rooms the platform of interactive, innovative and effective learning for students. The Institute has well furnished lecture halls equipped with state-of-art audio-visual equipment for contemporary education. More emphasis is given on interactive sessions between students and faculties/experts through group discussions, seminars, presentations, etc.

Other facilities

Medical Facility Health care is provided 24X7 to all the students in the campus. Dispensary in the campus addresses the preliminary medical needs of the students. Health care center has ambulance services for any medical emergency in the campus. Consumers' Co-op. Stores The RIT Students Consumers' Co-operative Stores caters the needs right from stationary and cutlery items to cosmetics, dress material for uniform, and college bags. Educational aids like calculators and drafters are made available through an educational kit and loose as well. The freshers especially feel relieved as they receive kits of bedding and educational aids. Bank and ATM All banking needs of the student and staff-members are taken care of by an extension counter of Rajarambapu Sakhari Bank Ltd. Peth, Branch: Rajaramnagar, situated in the campus. The bank has installed ATM with RuPay facility. The ATM is located in the new library building. Xerox Facility Institute has Three Xerox machines at different locations. Students can avail this facility in Administrative Office, Library and Consumers' Co-op. Store Central Computing Facility: The institute has well-established Central Computing Center, specially designed for students. The center extends all support for computing services. The separate internet labs located here are well equipped with more than 110 (i5 & i3) computers, 06 Servers, licensed softwares and allied equipments make it a resourceful node of service. The total investment in this center is more than one crore. Center looks after institute and alumni website development and its maintenance. It also maintains internet services, hardware and software in the campus. Campus Wide Networking: With core switch, Next Generation Firewall with HA mode, 8 POE switches with 24 port, 100+ Wi-Fi AP's and 300 mbps leased line & 30 mbps for backup line, we provide 24 hours internet facility, Wi-Fi as well as wired. Students and staff members also have access to this on their personal Laptops / Mobiles as well. Video Conference Hall Institute has a video conferencing hall to fulfill the need of multimedia distance interactions. This air conditioned hall has been installed with video conferencing equipments like LCD screen, LCD projector, Cordless audio system. All equipments can be controlled through touch panel. It is mostly used for various addresses and expert lectures from IITs and industries. CCTV: The Institute campus including hostels is under 200 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems. It is an additional technological tool for security and safety of everyone in the campus. ERP: The center has developed various software's to computerize all major services like Admission, Library, Payroll, Accounting, Exam and Result analysis, Central Stores, Student Attendance System, Video Library, Student Feed Back, Attendance / Result information, Message (SMS) to Parents, online Fees Payments, and Placement Information. ? Remedial Classes & Counseling: College provides bridge and remedial courses to fulfill the prerequisites for particular course. Faculty engages extra classes for the same. College has very good mechanism for conducting remedial classes. Few steps regarding the conduction of remedial classes are: • Identification of slow learners after monitoring progress of the students. • Special assistance during tutorial classes by giving extra assignments, explaining critical concepts to improve their performance. • Resource material made available on Moodle server. • Provide counseling to slow learners and their parents. ? Monitoring System: There is a provision for the services of counselors for each class for academic, personal and psycho-socio guidance in the institute. Every class has a faculty class coordinator acting as a mentor, who interacts with the students regularly to find out regularity in attendance, poor performing students etc. The mid semester review of attendance is taken and students are addressed to improve their performance. The institute has appointed a doctor who visits institute and counsel the students identified by the mentors. The boys’ and girls’ hostels have rectors and their staff to look after the day to day needs. ? Helping Weaker Students: A student with backlog/s should continuously seek help from his/her faculty advisor, Head of the Department and the Dean Student Development. Additionally he/she must also be in constant touch with his/her parents/local guardians for keeping them informed about academic performance. The institute also shall communicate to the parents/guardians of such student at-least once during each semester regarding his/her performance in In-semester evaluation and Mid-semester examination and also about his/her attendance. It shall be expected that the parents/guardians too keep constant touch with the concerned faculty advisor or Head of the Department, and if necessary - the Dean Student Development. ? Curricular and extra-curricular activities & Technical events: Students are encouraged to participate in various technical events and competitions and also in the curricular and extra-curricular activities by attending various programs organized in the institute and outside the institutes. Events like Baja competition, Supra competition, Quantum, Trailblazers, Virangula and Enthuse etc. are organized by the student’s organization to provide the platform to showcase the research of the students. Students are encouraged to take industry sponsored projects based on the real life problems. We also organize seminars, training and conferences through various students associations. ? College magazine (Vishwakarma): In order to nourish the written skills of the students as well as the faculty, college has started publishing its annual magazine. Through this, a chance is being given to students and faculties to share their thoughts, ideas, views etc. on any topic. The department of mechanical engineering is taking part in this activity as a coordinator as well as volunteer. ? Latest Technologies adopted by Institute: • Almost all classrooms are equipped with LCD projector and computer with internet facility. Faculty members use power point presentations, videos, online material to deliver the lecture. Open and licensed Simulation software’s are used to show the simulations. • Moodle server is available within institute where faculty uploads resource material, assignments, quizzes, discussion forum etc. • The e-books and e-journals of digital library are being used. The NPTEL lectures of IIT Madras and IUCEE webinars are used by the faculty members. Webinars organized by IUCEE are excellent in all respect and the fringe benefit to students, faculties, HOD’s and Deans. Because of this, all faculties from RIT could able to interact with globally known eminent personalities and they are well conversant with Outcome Based Education (OBE) which is today’s prime requirement of today’s education world. b. International Teacher Certification Courses: - Total 08 Our eight faculties have completed the prestigious IUCEE International Engineering Educator Certification Program (IIEECP) in last three years. In 2015, Indo-Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) with assistance of IGIP (International Society for Engineering Education), Austria started certifying engineering faculty, IIEECP. The objective of the Certification is to provide engineering educators with the skills and tools to be effective teachers. This program has addressed a critical need for rigorous training in the skills of effective teaching for our faculty. It has enabled the faculties to begin to comprehend the principles of learner?centered teaching; to design and redesign courses and its elements, emphasizing learning outcomes; to develop different teaching and active learning strategies for implementation of these elements; fostering collaborative learning; harnessing the power of technology; to design formative and summative assessment tools and rubrics for outcomes assessment.After completing this course, these eight faculties are mentoring other faculties of the institute for effective implementation of Outcomes Based Education. This Program is proved to be very effective and giving very good results in terms of better Course Attainment and improved Students Learning Index of the institute. c. Online Certificate Courses :- Total 11 online platforms are given for online certifications Learning Initiatives:- 1) CBCS (Choice Based Curriculum Structure) From Academic Year 2017-18 choice based four verticals have been included in academic Curriculum. As per this curriculum, all theory core courses are covered up to seventh semester and in eighth semester 4 choices are offered to final year B.Tech students. These 4 choices include: a. Industry internship and Project: It is an opportunity for students to receive experience in applying theories learned in the classroom to specific experiences in the community and work world – 5 months internship with mini project & one online self learning course. b. Undergraduate research Experience: For the engineering technology students, research experiences allow them to carry out in-depth study of engineering concepts, while emphasizing hands-on experiences and practical applications includes Research Methodology & 1 online self learning course. c. Entrepreneurship Development: For entrepreneurship to take roots in the country and to realize the dream of Make in India, it is extremely significant to orient the present generation and the academia as a whole towards this discipline. Includes courses on finance and marketing for engineers & developing project Feasibility Report based on the product selected. d. Regular Capstone Project: This is a regular track wherein students should do a development projects in a group. Along with project students need to study program and open elective subjects. 2) Mandatory Industry Internship for 4 weeks in 2nd Year: All the students enrolled for B.Tech program irrespective of their branch of engineering are required to undergo 4 weeks industry internships in industries parrot pertaining respective domain of their program. 3) Scholastic Aptitude and Interpersonal Skill Development Academics at RIT as mandatory Course: Keeping in view the need of aptitude skills in student, we have included Credit course on Scholastic Aptitude for third year B.Tech students. This will prepare them to think logically and prepare them to face placement drive. Along with aptitude, we also focus on Interpersonal Skills. By inclusion of Languages like German, Japanese, and English for first year students and professional courses like Effective communication and Body language, Work life balance, corporate competency, leadership, life skills for second year students, we have special trainers employed through Globarena, Hyderabad to train students in communication skills. Students Platform for Engineering Education and Development (SPEED) WORLD SPEED: SPEED is a global, non-profit student organization that functions as an interdisciplinary network of engineering students, who aspire to provide opinion and create an impact on future development of engineering education and its effect on society and environment. (http://www.worldspeed.org/portal ) IUCEE & INDIA SPEED: INDIA SPEED along with IUCEE(Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education) through its Regional Student Forum and Indian Students Forum Activities gets engineering students from various regions together and helps them work together towards addressing and tackling the problems in the education system. RIT SPEED is fully controlled and coordinated fully by students. Under IUCEE – INDIA SPEED guidance we have conducted following activities for the betterment of RIT students but also other regional students. For Academic Year 2016: • Regional Student Forum @ RIT ((81 participants from Maharashtra and South India) • NAAC Self Study Report for Autonomous Colleges • Theme for RSF: Engineering Education for Multifaceted Engineers • Indian Student Forum Workshop @ COEng, Pune (16 students have participated) • Global student forum workshop @ South Korea: One student got selected to attend GSF. Global Education & Exposure Cell : The Institute has taken up major steps to prepare our students to face the Global Challenges by pursuing Higher Education at well developed foreign Universities. To fulfill the objective mentioned above RIT started the “in Campus trainings or classes” like GRE/TOEFL, German Language and Japanese Language for the academic year 2015-16. • Total of 45 students qualified GRE/TOEFL and 31 students got admitted at foreign Universities. • More than 20 awareness programs have been organized since its beginning from 2015. • Distinguished guest visited from USA, Germany, Japan and DAAD etc. • Five MoU’s signed with foreign Universities and International Consultancies. Last year total 59 students have qualified in GATE. RIT Finishing School In order to survive in the today?s competitive market entrepreneur need to ensure that their products get designed and manufactured in the minimum possible time, and in the lowest possible cost, without compromising on the quality aspect. Therefore, design engineering and production department must work together in an integrated fashion. The advent of CAD/CAM/CAE has paved the way for highly flexible, accurate, fast and integrated approach for creating and manufacturing products and its components. Recent global survey indicates that only 25% of engineering graduates in India are employable. Therefore in order to improve the Employability of the students, Department has established CAD/CAM/CAE Centre in Institute which is equipped with latest commercial Packages in mechanical engineering. Following different training programs have been organized by RIT finishing school in last few years. Counseling Cell: The Counseling Cell provides emotional, academic and financial assistance to ensure welfare of the students. We are not just an institute but RIT family. Cell consists of a team of dedicated teachers and professional counselors. Objectives: • To help the students to overcome examination stress or fear. • To help the students facing depression caused due to family problems, academic or any other problem. • To help the students towards academic performance and motivate them to participate in various activities organized by the institute • To facilitate the students to complete the course in four years with good academic and overall track record. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (2016-2020) is a modified and improved version of PMKVY 2015-2016. It is the flagship outcome-based Skill Training Scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). This Skill Certification Scheme aims to enable and mobilize a large number of Indian youth to take up skill training and become employable and earn their livelihood. Total Intake for Phase One was 100 students & for Second phase was 400. Industry-Institute Interaction cell: To impart latest technical advancements and knowledge in industries to the students institute is taking continuous efforts through industry institute interaction cell. Activities of this cell can be broadly categorized in to Training and placement, Workshops and seminars, signing of MOUs for sponsored projects and industrial training for students. This cell carries out range of activities throughout the year mentioned below • To meet the manpower requirements of the Industry, Training and Placement activities are focused on providing right knowledge, skill and aptitude to the students. • To maintain regular contacts with industries. • To provide necessary student information to industries and inviting them for campus recruitment. • To conduct awareness programs related to placement activities among newly admitted students. • To organize workshops for enhancing aptitude and communication skills of students. • To provide necessary support to the student and recruiter during placement drives. • Key industry resource persons are invited to conduct workshops on advanced technology for students. • Eminent professors and scientist from reputed institutes and government organizations are invited to conduct seminars to make students and faculties familiarize with recent trends in research and technology. • To showcase best projects with potential of commercialization in industry exhibitions to attract industries for investment. • Signing MOUs with industries working in different domains for providing field training to the students, getting consultancy projects and establishing special research laboratories. Hostel details

One of the major concerns of parents about their wards is the facilities of stay and food. RIT promises parental care to boys and girl students residing in the hostel. The boy's hostel accommodates 659 boy and 477 girl students can be accommodated in the ladies hostel. Six messes ensure quality food and Aquaguard system is installed for drinking water. Hot water through the solar system is provided on every floor. An uninterrupted power supply is provided with the help of generators. Stringent security and discipline norms are induced to avoid any ill elements to enter the campus. 24 Hours 300 Mbps Internet access to all. Ladies hostel offers some special facilities like cooking gas and electric geezers. Hostel Staff staying in each hostel building helps to maintain study atmosphere in the hostel campus. A dispensary in the campus takes care of preliminary free medical treatment. An ambulance is always ready to meet any medical emergency. 24 hrs canteen facilities (Tea & Snacks) during examination period Modern Gym facility within the campus. Tea/Coffee vending machine has been installed in hostel campus for the use of boys and girls students. Provided TVs in all the messes and daily Newspapers for updating their knowledge. The beautiful green campus of the hostel makes their every morning wishful and evenings memorable. A new college guest house has been commissioned for the visiting guests and parents with A.C. & Non A.C. Deluxe Rooms & Conference Hall.
